- Animating the truck's wheels and turning
I imported some camera controls to get the game to actually run and do things. The truck now can go forward, and I've got two cameras set up, one that follows behind at the same pace as the truck, and one that is mounted on the front of the truck that will go up and down with the trailer of the truck, to give the player a better idea of exactly how tall their trailer is. I also did some work laying the foundations for the colliders that will help determine scores and game overs. Unfortunately, the only solution to the optimization problem that I could find was deleting a bunch of duplicate assets. I'll have to figure out a system of getting them in there without taking up too much processing power. Next week:

This week I really focused on making the scene look better and getting the camera into position. I'm fairly certain this is close to the final graphics of the game, without the UI implemented of course. It's looking significantly better than it was before, though I do need to get some of the textures to be a bit more complex and interesting. However, I'm running into massive lag, especially in the angle for the camera that I have set up, because it has a lot in view for rendering. That's going to be next week's focus, getting that to not be how it is. Next week:
- Optimization so every edit I make doesn't take 10 minutes to load I took a break from coding this week, and played around with the scene a bit. I got rid of the mountains in the background, finished up the building models and then imported them. From there, I started work on texturing them. It's really basic for now, but with some editing on the brick texture and finding a good wood texture, I think the buildings will come out nicely. However, Unity is starting to tank some with all of these complex models. I don't know how I'm going to optimize the final game so that the camera can move without massive lag, but it's going to need to happen. Next week:
